Anxiety is a universal, adaptative response. Our body’s natural defense mechanism. Working as an alert system, it helps us to cope with threatening, stressful situations. As an adaptative mechanism anxiety can be a healthy and functional tool.
However, the stress of daily life can interfere with our natural response, making it difficult to manage certain situations and causing us various health problems. Associated with stress, frustration, worry or depression, it can create feelings of limited control, low self-esteem, fear and defeat. Producing muscle tension and disturbances on the nervous system it can end up generating social difficulties and organic problems like digestive or sleeping disorders. Managing anxiety can really undermine us physically, mentally and psychologically.
Whether you’re feeling stressed or anxious, this therapeutic workshop will empower you take control of your process. From an organic, integrative approach, we will explore different tools and yoga techniques to understand and manage anxiety as a psycho-physiological process. Through an integration of yoga asana, (alignment-based, gentle) mindfulness principles, and breath work, we will be training the body to relax and soothe the anxious mind. Slowing down, we will bring awareness to how anxiety develops as an internal process and our habitual patterns of response. Focusing on the breath, the body and the present moment we will help reduce anxious thoughts and release physical tension to develop a healthy an adaptative response.
